GORDIE'S BRIDGE

GORDIE'S BRIDGE

We had a summer home in Canada

A beachfront cottage in Kingsville

A quaint town on Lake Erie

To get to the cottage,

We had two choices

The tunnel or the bridge

The Ambassador Bridge

Either way you had to pay

It's just the tunnel was more convenient

And more fun

I mile long and 75 feet under the river

The Detroit–Windsor Tunnel

Is the second busiest crossing

Between the US and Canada

The Ambassador Bridge the first

The Ambassador Bridge originally was a railroad bridge

Later open to cars

It is hard to get to, and

Ends on Windsor’s city streets

Now we have a third option

The Gordie Howe International Bridge

Connecting Highway to Highway

And named after the most famous

Detroit Redwing hockey player

Gordie Howe

The G H I B was fought for years

By the owner of the Ambassador

Who refused to make improvements

To the older bridge

Recently DJT became involved

Claiming the Feds should get a share

Of this public bridge paid for by Canada

And managed by Ontario and Michigan

Trump claimed his blocking the opening of

Gordie’s Bridge was all about

His trade dispute with Canada

He didn’t mention the million dollar donation

He received from the owner of the Ambassador Bridge

I'm eager to cross over on the Gordie, but

The tunnel is still my first choice.

ON THE WING - an new Music Video

On the Wing

Nature on the wing. They departed their winter home Flying separately they follow A path determined by memory and sight Arriving in early Spring to the nest they left A year ago. Now, it is colder in the morning The fish go deeper Soon it will be time to leave This has been a good year, Two chicks on the wing The male sits quiet and patient Waiting his turn to fish Watching for other predators in the sky He guards the nest The female is on the wing She is larger and more in need Hungry, Hunting she soars high over the water Watching for signs of movement on the surface Fresh fish for her family to eat Her fledglings our on the wing, too Learning, still, imitating their parents Often returning to the nest for food, but Only for a month more The cycle is nearly complete Nest building and mating in the spring Eggs and chicks through the summer Leaving in the fall Nature on the wing. IF ONLY WE COULD LIVE IN OUR DREAMS - Music Video

If Only We Could Live in Our Dreams - video on YouTube

IF ONLY WE COULD LIVE IN OUR DREAMS

In the early morning, when the birds are still asleep.

You call out my name.

In your dreams I’m the man you wanted me to be.

If only we could live in our dreams.

If only our dreams could come true.

At sunrise, the birds take to the sky, and

You must face the day alone.

No more dreaming of what life took away.

If only we could live in our dreams.

If only our dreams could come true.

You sit outside listening to the birds in the trees

A hopeful sound. Life hidden in the leaves.

No dream of what was. Reality in the light of day.

If only we could live in our dreams.

If only our dreams could come true.

When the darkness comes and the birds go to their nests.

You breathe a sigh of relief.

You have made it through another day of grief.

You are ready to sleep. To be with him again.

If only we could  live in our dreams.

If only our dreams could come true.

If only we could  live in our dreams.

If only our dreams could come true.

At What Cost? - a new music video

“At what cost?”

She said she had to decide.

The boy from Alaska or me?

We’d only been together a few months.

Yet, my love for her went beyond words

We sat close together in the Washington pavilion.

In the last days of the World’s Fair.

Expo 74.

Holding hands while we watched,

Flashing pictures of the rugged Washington coast.

Playing to the music of Eric Satie.

We were falling in love.

Had fallen in love.

Three months later everything had changed.

The boy from Alaska was back, and

She needed to choose.

Me or him, and

She was the prize.

Marriage and Alaska was the cost.

The poets say love at any cost.

But that was not to be.

I wasn’t ready then.

Perhaps I’d never be.

Now all I have is the memory,

Of days filled with love and laughter, and

The music of Eric Satie.

Now all I have is the memory,

Of days filled with love and laughter, and

The music of Eric Satie

LET THE CURRENT DECIDE - a new song/poem video

 LET THE CURRENT DECIDE

link to video.

The water is deep and wide as my fear,

So I take your hand to cross,

Lest the unforgiving current

Of our history, pull us under.

Our lives,

Sapped of strength

Are no longer resilient,

No longer buoyant.

Love, once sharp and intense,

Is a tarnished blade

That releases your hand from mine.

I feel the current pull

Swiftly deciding

Who goes ahead,

And who is left behind?

MY PERSON - A song poem video.

MY VIDEO SONGS CHANNEL

MY PERSON

“The Chinese principle of Yin-yang represents a dynamic balance of opposing but complementary and interconnected forces.”

A friend told me his wife was His Person, and he was all in.

My Person is a true life-partner,

Soulmate, lover, friend.

My first loves were special,

But they brought chaos into my life.

I looked for new greener pastures; ignoring the truth.

My Person was there all the time, uniquely right for me.

Providing love and companionship,

And her tolerance.

Like a tailored suit, we are a good fit, yet with space to grow.

She compliments, and complements, while,

Accepting my faults.

Finding and recognizing Your Person can be difficult.

Youth and age may blind us to the truth,

Relations take time.

My Person brought balance and harmony into my being.

Together, we are more than our sum,

Her yin to my yang.

DAILY ROUTINES IN A COUNTRY GONE CRAZY

DAILY ROUTINES IN A COUNTRY GONE CRAZY

I am a person who has routines.

I make coffee and fix a mug of iced coffee for Lynette.

I turn on the fountain in the backyard.

I check and fill the bird feeders.

I solve 7 of the daily NYT games.

I check my e-mails.

I may drive to several spots to photograph birds and wildlife.

I may go to the grocery store.

I may write.

I may paint.

I may listen to music.

I make dinner with Lynette

I have a glass or two of wine.

I watch TV after dinner.

In between all this, I watch the news.

These had been my daily activities for over 10 years.

Little has changed, except the country I/we seem to be living in and,

The future being created by those in power.

I could stop watching the news but that isn't an answer.

The country, perhaps the world is spinning out of control.

We have to separate facts and truth from lies and deception.

We have to hold on to what matters; what is important to us and to the US.

We can't lose hope, but praying and hoping are never enough.

We have to stand up and speak out.

We have to add new actions to our routines.

Actions that are legal, moral, and ethical.

Actions that will fight and end the lies.

The chaos, and the division being perpetrated by the president and his minions.
