At What Cost? - a new music video

“At what cost?”

She said she had to decide.

The boy from Alaska or me?

We’d only been together a few months.

Yet, my love for her went beyond words

We sat close together in the Washington pavilion.

In the last days of the World’s Fair.

Expo 74.

Holding hands while we watched,

Flashing pictures of the rugged Washington coast.

Playing to the music of Eric Satie.

We were falling in love.

Had fallen in love.

Three months later everything had changed.

The boy from Alaska was back, and

She needed to choose.

Me or him, and

She was the prize.

Marriage and Alaska was the cost.

The poets say love at any cost.

But that was not to be.

I wasn’t ready then.

Perhaps I’d never be.

Now all I have is the memory,

Of days filled with love and laughter, and

The music of Eric Satie.

Now all I have is the memory,

Of days filled with love and laughter, and

The music of Eric Satie

LET THE CURRENT DECIDE - a new song/poem video

 LET THE CURRENT DECIDE

link to video.

The water is deep and wide as my fear,

So I take your hand to cross,

Lest the unforgiving current

Of our history, pull us under.

Our lives,

Sapped of strength

Are no longer resilient,

No longer buoyant.

Love, once sharp and intense,

Is a tarnished blade

That releases your hand from mine.

I feel the current pull

Swiftly deciding

Who goes ahead,

And who is left behind?

MY PERSON - A song poem video.

MY VIDEO SONGS CHANNEL

MY PERSON

“The Chinese principle of Yin-yang represents a dynamic balance of opposing but complementary and interconnected forces.”

A friend told me his wife was His Person, and he was all in.

My Person is a true life-partner,

Soulmate, lover, friend.

My first loves were special,

But they brought chaos into my life.

I looked for new greener pastures; ignoring the truth.

My Person was there all the time, uniquely right for me.

Providing love and companionship,

And her tolerance.

Like a tailored suit, we are a good fit, yet with space to grow.

She compliments, and complements, while,

Accepting my faults.

Finding and recognizing Your Person can be difficult.

Youth and age may blind us to the truth,

Relations take time.

My Person brought balance and harmony into my being.

Together, we are more than our sum,

Her yin to my yang.

DAILY ROUTINES IN A COUNTRY GONE CRAZY

DAILY ROUTINES IN A COUNTRY GONE CRAZY

I am a person who has routines.

I make coffee and fix a mug of iced coffee for Lynette.

I turn on the fountain in the backyard.

I check and fill the bird feeders.

I solve 7 of the daily NYT games.

I check my e-mails.

I may drive to several spots to photograph birds and wildlife.

I may go to the grocery store.

I may write.

I may paint.

I may listen to music.

I make dinner with Lynette

I have a glass or two of wine.

I watch TV after dinner.

In between all this, I watch the news.

These had been my daily activities for over 10 years.

Little has changed, except the country I/we seem to be living in and,

The future being created by those in power.

I could stop watching the news but that isn't an answer.

The country, perhaps the world is spinning out of control.

We have to separate facts and truth from lies and deception.

We have to hold on to what matters; what is important to us and to the US.

We can't lose hope, but praying and hoping are never enough.

We have to stand up and speak out.

We have to add new actions to our routines.

Actions that are legal, moral, and ethical.

Actions that will fight and end the lies.

The chaos, and the division being perpetrated by the president and his minions.
