In situations where we need someone to step up, the majority just look on, or
Look away. Not cowards really, but people who put their own safety above all else
This is a time to step up. A time for heroes
Bravery can be taught, but heroes aren’t made; they just happen
In a moment of conflict or need, a person steps in
Often without thinking about the danger and their safety, or survival
They act when others can’t or won’t
They are different, whether by training or nature
They are brave, but their actions aren’t about being brave or being fearless
The answer is to accept you are afraid and decide to act anyway
To commit; to believe you can act – you need to act
Self-confidence and self-efficacy can be taught
Many of our past leaders already had the self-confidence and skill
To face adversities and overcome their fear and act
That skill, those experiences, those lessons seem to be in short supply lately
Self-preservation is the rule today.
Hold onto your position and power, whatever the cost.
Even if they know what is right, what is necessary, their fear rules the day.
Fear rules the day, and the nation pays the price
When will someone act anyway, over come their fear, and
Act anyway
