Now, it is colder in the morning The fish go deeper Soon it will be time to leave This has been a good year, Two chicks on the wing The male sits quiet and patient Waiting his turn to fish Watching for other predators in the sky He guards the nest The female is on the wing She is larger and more in need Hungry, Hunting she soars high over the water Watching for signs of movement on the surface Fresh fish for her family to eat Her fledglings our on the wing, too Learning, still, imitating their parents Often returning to the nest for food, but Only for a month more The cycle is nearly complete Nest building and mating in the spring Eggs and chicks through the summer Leaving in the fall Nature on the wing.
