This short-short story A Poet’s Pay appeared in the
Sonoma Valley Sun – Vol. XI. Issue 29 in the Creative Arts Section edited by Deb Carlen.
The idea came out of the new western (Overland) I am writing, but is also based on the old Faygo commercials and Monty
Python’s Dennis Moore sketch. Eventually the story will appear on the Sun’s website: http://news.sonomaportal.com/
Pictured is Charles Earl Bowles, aka Black Bart. Bowles was an English-born outlaw noted for the poetic messages he left behind after two of his robberies. Often called Charley by his friends, he was also known as Charles Bolton.
The Stagecoach Diligencia, engraving by William Henry Bishop.
